# Exam Attendance Date Filtering Update

## Overview
Updated the exam attendance module to properly filter data by exam date. The date dropdown now shows only dates that have actual exam data, and when a date is selected, the attendance data is filtered to show only that specific date's information.

## Changes Made

### 1. Updated `autonomous_college.sql`
- Added optimized queries for exam attendance date filtering
- Added Query 1: Get exam dates filtered by academic year and exam type
- Added Query 2: Get exams filtered by academic year, exam type, and specific date
- Added Query 3: Get attendance data filtered by exam and date
- Added Query 4: Get attendance statistics by exam and date

### 2. Updated `api/exam_attendance/get_by_exam.php`
- Added `exam_date` parameter support
- Modified query to filter by date when provided
- Updated query to use dynamic parameters for date filtering

### 3. Updated `master-exam-attendance.php`
- Modified `loadExamAttendance()` function to pass exam date to API
- Added date filtering to the API call
- Updated URL building to include date parameter

### 4. Updated `exam-attendance.php`
- Modified `loadExamAttendance()` function to pass exam date to API
- Added date filtering to the API call
- Updated URL building to include date parameter

## How It Works

### Flow: Academic Year → Type → Date → Exam → Mark Attendance

1. **Select Academic Year**: Loads available academic years
2. **Select Type**: Loads exam types for the selected academic year
3. **Select Date**: Loads only dates that have actual exam data for the selected academic year and type
4. **Select Exam**: Loads exams for the selected academic year, type, and date
5. **Mark Attendance**: Shows attendance data filtered by the selected date

### Date Filtering Logic

- **Date Dropdown**: Shows only dates from `exam_timetable` that have actual exam data
- **Exam Dropdown**: Shows only exams that occur on the selected date
- **Attendance Data**: Shows only attendance records for the selected date
- **Statistics**: Calculated based on the filtered date data

## API Endpoints

### `api/exam_attendance/get_exam_dates.php`
- **Purpose**: Get unique exam dates for academic year and exam type
- **Parameters**: `academic_year`, `exam_type_id`
- **Returns**: Array of unique exam dates

### `api/exam_attendance/get_exams_by_date.php`
- **Purpose**: Get exams for specific academic year, exam type, and date
- **Parameters**: `academic_year`, `exam_type_id`, `exam_date`
- **Returns**: Array of exams for the specific date

### `api/exam_attendance/get_by_exam.php`
- **Purpose**: Get attendance data for an exam (with optional date filter)
- **Parameters**: `exam_id`, `exam_date` (optional)
- **Returns**: Attendance data filtered by date if provided
